CFRE Book

AFP Mid-America Chapter offers free members-only study sessions for its Chapter members. These sessions are generally scheduled in the spring and fall, and are best attended by CFRE candidates who have already submitted their application to CFRE International and have an upcoming testing date.

Interested in learning more about the CFRE or ACFRE designation? The AFP Mid-America Chapter is hosting a free information session on Thursday, January 26 at 7:30am. Register by clicking on the link on the event calendar.

The next members-only CFRE study session will take place on February 21 at 7:30am. Register by clicking on the link on the event calendar.

New in 2016, AFP Mid-America will offer partial scholarships for chapter members to offset the cost of applying for the CFRE. Click here for more information or to download an application.

Why CFRE? Here's what some of our Chapter's CFREs have to say.

"Like many people in development, I initially fell into fundraising with no prior conscious decision to make it a career. After I had done it for awhile, though, I found that I enjoyed it and had a knack for it. But that wasn’t enough. I determined that if I was going to be a fundraiser, I was going to be the best I could be at it. So pursuing and obtaining my CFRE marked a turning point for me—that I was seriously committing to fundraising as a career. For me, then, the CFRE credential means aspiring to the highest standards excellence in the field. I would encourage anyone with similar aspirations to do likewise.”

“After having my CFRE for 9 years, I continue to find immense value and pride in having this distinguished designation. I achieved my CFRE immediately after having 5 years in the fundraising industry, as soon as I could, because it was so important in my book. Obtaining the CFRE is tough, but if you participate in the CFRE study sessions, follow the study guides and take advantage of the resources provided, you will most likely pass the test. The CFRE study sessions are not only invaluable for the test, but also to strengthen your fundraising skills and learn from other successful fundraisers in our community.

I firmly believe earning the CFRE sets you a part from others, is a testament that the fundraising profession is important to you, and is proof you have the education, knowledge and experience to do your job well. Not long after earning my CFRE, I became my organization’s Executive Director/CEO. The CFRE differentiated me from other candidates, despite being the youngest contender for the CEO role.

In the last 9 years, having my CFRE has also afforded me opportunities to be a presenter at national fundraising conferences, for local AFP programs, and being a part of the faculty for the AFP Fundraising 101 two-day program. Furthermore, the CFRE renewal every three year encourages me to continue to stay educated and well versed in best practices, relevant issues and trends in fundraising. I highly recommend every fundraising professional obtain their CFRE – it will be well worth your investment of time and money.”

"Achieving my CFRE allowed me the opportunity to buckle down and round out my knowledge of fundraising. I now have a comprehensive and thorough understanding of all facets of fundraising, and can quickly pivot to key educational resources to deepen that knowledge. It regularly brings me confidence and pride in my work."
