The UMKC Foundation is seeking a qualified candidate for the full time position of Director of Development for the UMKC School of Education. Primary duties include: identify, cultivate, and solicit prospective donors for major and other gifts; collaborate with UMKC Advancement and Alumni & Constituent Relations staff to cultivate relationships and build affinity with alumni to increase annual and planned gifts; develop strategies and collateral materials to promote gifts of all size; oversee and manage stewardship including donor-centered events and grant/endowment reports; other duties as assigned. Aug 20 - Major Gift Officer
PRIMARY FUNCTION/PURPOSE: The Major Gift Officer will identify, engage, cultivate, solicit, and steward current and prospective donors, in expanding their financial support of the work of the American Red Cross. He/she will be responsible for meeting an annual revenue target by working with an assigned portfolio of donors and prospects to advance the mission of the organization and assist donors in creating meaning in their lives through giving to the American Red Cross. Responsibilities: • Implement programs and activities to identify, educate, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors at the $1,000 level or higher with an emphasis on maximizing revenue for the American Red Cross. • Meet or exceed minimum annual fundraising targets ($300,000 for the current fiscal year) including renewable gifts and new incremental revenue, adjusting as necessary in the event of major domestic disasters • Works collaboratively with other departments and partners with development staff at the National Office to create customized solicitation strategies matching the objectives of the organization and interests of the donor/prospect. Design and disseminate customized solicitation strategies targeting organizational objectives and donor interests in partnership with cross-departmental teams. • Maintain up-to-date donor records in region/chapter database following donor contact • Develop and execute ongoing strategies for qualifying suspects and elevating them to prospect status via small cultivation events, research, and community networking; A majority of the portfolio is expected to be sourced by the MGO • Carries out any additional assignments required to fulfill the Mission of the American Red Cross. • Works with chapter Board members and other leadership volunteers to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward appropriate donors.
